2010 Holiday Boutiques

Who would have thought that watching other people browse and buy clothes would be so much fun! I used to be addicted to malls and clothes...but now that I'm in the industry I have a different perspective. Weird, really...for someone who likes being on the other side of the counter. Reminds me of this movie with John Cusack film...nevermind.

Go Patriots!

You may see me at a bunch of high school football games during playoffs. The Liberty High School football team is in the top three, and just won their first of many games on their journey to state championships. Last year, LHS battled against Bellevue High School and lost. They want to win the trophy this year! I'm wearing tulees Beach Scarves in Greenhouse & Marina (Liberty colors) and Comfy Dress in Black.

My son's friend took the next pic. His first time using an iPhone as a camera. Peter skipped the "ready one-two-three" warning, and I was still instructing him on the importance of keeping really still while holding the phone, which icon to press on the touch pad, and waiting for the right amount of light to hit the lens. Sweet boy for helpin' me out. He must have thanked Tanner three or more times for inviting and giving him a ride to the game. My son has grown weary of all the impromptu photo shoots.

Thank goodness I had two beach scarves on that night! The sun disappeared behind opponent's bleachers shortly after kick-off. The temp' dipped below 45 degrees, I could see my breath, and it's extra cold when you're sitting on metal seats. Bhurr! Next game, I'm bringing a wool blanket.

What a fun ride these last few months have been! Lots of "changes" (pun intended) this summer, from a career in technology to fitness & fashion...

tulees 365 Legging in Orchid, Basic Blue Henley, and Racerback Tank in Fresh (white) took me from morning meeting at the local java stop, and into a few bootcamp style exercises for the MOVE To Be Fit October 2010 Challenge.

Strappy Cami in Pretty is on the MOVE layered on top of Racerback Tank in Washed Onyx (Black) were my first purchase at tulees Fashion Party in July, and it's my favorite tanks ever! I will get two more because I wear it twice a week to teach fitness classes! This outfit also includes tulees Capri Legging in Washed Onyx (Black). My second favorite.

Started my morning on the Eastside, in my tulees 365 Legging in Washed Onyx (Black) 95% Cotton, 5% Lycra, this time in Washed Onyx (black as in), Pocket Jacket in Orchid (love this color) 92% Cotton, 8% Lycra, and Scoopneck Tee in Turquoise outfit; I was at my Belltown meetup with tulees designer! Great iPhone pics, huh? Takes the stress out of your day when black pant suits aren't required for a career in fashion and fitness. Takes business casual to another level...business sassy!

Fall/Winter 2010 masterpiece! The tulees Parachute Knit Mini in...Military Parachute color, of course! This collector, show-off piece using "repurposed" military parachute fabric for a fashion-forward statement. Your girlfriends will be jealous if you can pull this off!

The rest of the outfit kept me out of trouble...a little. tulees One Shoulder Tank in Black 95% Cotton, 5% Lycra could have gotten me pulled over if it weren't for the Coverup Jacket in Brown 92% Cotton, 8% Lycra.

tulees Ruched Mini in Golden turned his head. The Scoop Neck Tee in Mocha is a tee that everyone should have in their fall wardrobe, and the Light Cardy in Black dressed-up the outfit just enough to keep his mind pure. My teenage son took these iPhone pics (after much protest), and since he's almost six feet tall; some mistake him for...well, yes. Weird. I know.

tulees Fashion Party was my very first look at Katie's designs. When I tried on this outfit, first th Racerback Tank in Washed Onyx (Black) layered on top of Strappy Cami in Pretty, I fell in love with the feel of the clothing and every piece was a perfect fit! The wide waist band of my tulees Capri Legging in Washed Onyx (Black) sits in that perfect spot and the fabric feels so good on.

What an amazingly funtastic day that was to take a road trip with my dear friend Ann to the tulees Fashion Party! I met designer, Katie Senff, her business partner Nathan Ward and Katie's wonderful family and entourage.

Lots to learn about the industry, the products, branding strategies, and most importantly, sales and marketing! The rules of engagement are a little different, and online social media has changed the landscape entirely. Adopting new ways to capture a slice of a competitive marketplace in a recovering economy; a mystery worthy of creative sleuthing or a hair-raising adventure?
